705 Depth

I got out for a couple hours yesterday down in Digger's neck of the woods I am running the 9" 3KHZ coil. I can run the sensitivity at about 20 21 max then I start getting false signals I was in some good old yards I found a token and 1916 and 21 wheats but they were all in the 2" to 3" range Has anyone experienced loss of depth with the 705 and if so how did you cure it?

Yes..........so bought the coiltek 15" DD 3.75 kHz coil and the MK 11 easyswing because of weight, and search in prospecting AM mode with IM selected.
(remember you have to walk over it to find it )

It's probably related to the makeup of your soil. I run my sensitivity at max 99.9% of the time. I can only think of maybe 2-3 times in the last few years that I had to back it down.

Depth depends on so many things that unless I'm hunting the same ground as you I can't begin to say what you should expect. Coil size, frequency employed, coil configuration, soil makeup, sweep speed, the mode that you hunt in, the quality of your headphones, how you have the threshold set, ambient noise levels, targets sought, and more will determine your results.

That said, I've dug coin targets as deep as a measured 17", and would have given up if I didn't want to know what it was that originally got my attention.

I think realistically at a setting of 30, you can expect 6" with the norm being 3-4". That covers the majority of your finds, over powering the ground or interference issues at high power is counter productive and lessens your finds. Slow swinging and headphones are key in deep finding with Xterra.

I have real mineralized soil, GB in most places is around 7 or 8 running sensitivity at any where from 16 to 24 and in test garden that that i started 10 years ago, i have no problem with quarters, dimes and nickels at 6". Just like Old Longhair said there are so many adjustments on the 705 that it takes some time to learn about this machine. My 705 is 2 years old, i have aprox 400 hours on it and i still learn all the time.

Don't give up just keep learning and you will love this machine.
