705 Beginner Settings

New to the Forum & hobby. Live in Anchorage, Alaska & getting ready to travel to Hawaii in a couple of weeks. Just bought a 705 Gold Pack & have been doing a lot of reading but can't practice because of the snow & ice. Want to begin using my 705 in Hawaii while on vacation. Along with all the reading it woud be great if other users could offer good advise for beach detecting & if some starting settings & procedures could be shared. I also intend to prospect here in Alaska for nuggets after winter breakup so, any input woud be greatly appreciated especially locations, advise & settings anyone may have to offer.

Be sure to read Digger's book.

Digger's Book

I would suggest for coin hunting, use Pattern 2 until you get a little comfortable with what coins sound like. Once you get comfortable digging coins, edit Pattern 1 to only have the lowest and highest ID notched out. I use that pattern 98% of the time.

One of the most important things that I can tell you is to remember four things. Remember what the ID was, remember what the target sounds like as far as the size of the target when you move your coil over the target, remember what the pitch of the audio signal sounded like and remember what you dig keeping the first three items in mind. Once your mind starts to put all of those things together you will be very successful.
