7-The-Hard-Way....

Gulf Hunter

Began my spin down the lane at around 8am or so and was late anyway as the low has since passed at 132am -0.3L. The tide was crashing in already and was hunting into a 345pm 1.4H. Was forced to hunt much shallower than normal with the tide and waders on. Found my beach area piled high with fresh sand for a replenishment. Should have left then, but subbornly gave it a whirl. Was running the Mark II, just in case since this beach area is not all that trashy. The targets in the upper part of the pic were from this hunt. Left around 10 and headed elsewhere as I had not even found so much as a penny. Ran the Excal at the next beach, was target rich, but only could manage 7 cents and gave it up around 3pm. LAME!

I'm very new to this hobby and was beginning to think that I was incompetent or just unlucky. All I ever find down here in South Padre Island is aluminum cans, pull tabs, trash, and $3.48 in modern coins after half a dozen outings. So if even the experts get skunked sometimes, I guess I'll just keep plugging along, digging more than I should, but learning the tones on this CZ-20.

I'm eagerly awaiting spring break. Hopefully, tequila will make their rings fall off.

That's why I usually put everything that I find up there (I know most folks don't want to see the junk). It's good to know that you ain't just gonna go out there and find loot everytime. I have had about 6 lame trips in a row. This quite possibly would be enough to cause someone without perseverence to quit. I know it's sanded in because I'm finding light weight targets. Very few coins and targets of density like lead. 1 or 2 days of the right combination of wind-tide-current will make it happen and BAM LOOT! Even if the tequila kids did not lose anything else there is still plenty there at different levels and areas of the sand. Press on for "Davy Jones Locker", shall reopen soon enough!
