7 Silver In The Cold

Sooper Dave

Well-known member
I went out to get some detecting time in yesterday. It was very cold, windy and spitting snow. I wanted to just get for a little bit and maybe luck up on one keeper for my effort. I rode out to a school with my son, not a very old school but old enough to potentially have some silver. It's used as a community center and park now. So my son skateboarded around while I started to hunt where the old ball field would have been. There were not any deep signals and it seemed to have been covered in gravel. I worked my way over to the side and got a nice signal that produced a worn old Merc. I though that's a great sign and after 2 hours of hunting I ended with 6 wheats and 7 Silver. I was not expecting that and I never even thought about the weather. I was thrilled to get my keeper and then some. I will have to hit that spot again soon. HH David

Seven silver in one hunt is a day to remember! Isn't it funny how we forget about the cold once the finds start popping out of the ground? LOL HH

Nice It seems that sometimes they scrape the area to the sides and lay down some process
for drainage then recover with topsoil.
I look to the sides where there may be a slight mound and a lot of times old coins
can be found near the top of the mound..

Wow ... a seven Silver hunt - a job well done Dave !

outstanding hunt Dave!
