Excal Loot at the Old Lake

Last night started well, Hit the mine around 8pm -
Rings were popping out deep, 1 ring every 30 - 45 min or so....
Had 2 silver rings, 3 junker rings and a watch by 11pm - then a long dry spell...Natha...
Started to hit a hard clay and rock area, murder on the scoop and ankle..
Decided to call it quits - headed out of the mine - took a look at the cell phone - It said 1:30AM
I stood there for a minute or so and gazed at the mine, and remembered a famous quote by a great and fearless pirate!!!!
Gulf Hunter - "Tenacious Perseverance Always Prevails"
So I put back on the gear and headed back out
Would you believe my third scoop produced the 6.1 gram gold band making my total gold rings at 100!!
With a grin, I was chest deep at this time - took two steps to my left to start another grid and got another screamer.......
A 21.9 GRAM CLASS RING WITH A QUARTER - About 3' to 5' from the gold band - Bonus 101 Gold Rings this year..
Both rings added up to be exactly 28 grams or 1 oz... with the stone in the class ring..
Here's the Pics...

Love the trash :) Less for me with my PI to find lol... Congrats on the ring pickups :)

People tell me not to use a PI in the freshwater but I do... I dig everything anyway so whats a few hundred extra nails lol... I'm hitting a freshwater lake this week... I'll let you know how I do :)

I'm not surprised though. Fact of the matter is you have what it takes. Great job and get back into the mine at that spot. You missed some, fo sho! Heck you got time to make 150 anyway man!

Next time you hunt, switch the Excal to pinpoint. Concentrate hard on what the nails sound like. You will eventually be able to tell the good targets from the bad. You will get fooled every now and then. If you can do it then, maybe you could run a PI successfully in fresh water. Nails do double beep, sometimes. It is VERY demanding, whenever you move the coil in any direction and have to analyze whether you have iron or not. Give it a whirl and lets see how you do. Perhaps Craig will have an interesting nut to show us from the lake.

I have nothing to show... Bobbypins also double beep... I got to the lake this morning and in the water there were hundreds of holes :( Someone with a discrimination machine beat me there, I know this because they left their weight belt in the sand. I got tired of falling into the holes so I quit and went to work instead :) I'm not posting the 2 quarters and 2 nickels I found close to shore. Where the swim platforms were that's where all the holes were.

I usually have a jacket that has zipper pockets, I put the good stuff in temporarily . I'm never far from my Equipment, bucket and bag - which I move down shore as I hunt I grid up and down - so when I get back to shore I empty my load..and move it down shore...
