7 Indians with the Delta

Well, today turned out to be a great coin day... stumbled upon a honey hole after several hours in the woods only finding cartridge casings, and once I found the first, they started coming in fast. Found the first four in about half an hour in an area 20 feet in diameter, the other three more spread out, but all within a hundred feet of that first location. My hunting buddy found one IH and a toasted V Nickel. My new DD coil was going deep. The first was about an inch deeper than the length of my pro=pointer, however deep that is... I was surprised not to find coins of other denominations, and of course was hoping for silver... Will try to get back soon. Sorry for the junky cell phone pic - dates range from 1884-1904. Just the kind of day I've been hoping for! Yes!

A 7 Indian day is a great day. WTG! Yes, I would get back to that spot pronto. Good chance for more IH's and others older varieties, seemingly. HH jim tn

Cool finds I hope there is more in your future at that spot ....

Great finds bb_maine!

I am just getting used to my Delta and was wondering what settings you were using to pick these coins up. Were you running discrimination mode, all metal, etc.? Sensitivity?

Also, were you running the 5x10 DD?

Thanks!

Nice work. I love seeing the green patina of those indians in the hole! Get back out there, there has to be some seated silver in there.

Thanks all! Bartman - I love that green too... and yes, I have high hopes for a seated, which would be a first for me... Gotta be one there somewhere! Topaz - I'm running in discriminate mode, Sensitivity usually at 11, sometimes I crank it to 12... I am using the 11" DD which is different than the 5x10". Loving it's depth capabilities an dit has very good target separation! As far as Disc goes, I leave it on default, only nulling out iron - sometimes I go down to include iron just to double check if I'm getting a false reading. Indian Heads on my machine were coming up as a solid 72, sometimes 73. Enough to differentiate between a Lincoln Memorial Cent which comes up as a 77 or 78. Interestingly, wheat cents come up as 82 - a solid dime reading - have thrown me for a loop a few times - seeing that 82 at 6-8 inches down, fingers crossed for a Merc, Barber, or Seated, and nope... it's a wheatie! Let me know if you ahve any other questions about your Delta! Cheers, and HH!

Thanks for sharing your settings bb_maine! I'm sure I will be hitting you up as I get more familiar with this detector. I will be paying particularly close attention on the IH vs Wheatie vs LM settings. I really appreciate the help!
