Here are some of the reasons why jewelry stamps are hard to find. Be sure to check out every place on your finds. I shot most of these pics through magnifiers so some may not be real clear.
This large sterling cross has the stamp on the side - not a frequent place at all. This one is obvious but some are hard to read.

The back side of this silver dolphin has .925 very clearly on it when using a magnifier. The 5 is right below the loop. The metal is all roughed up from the casting so it's not easy to see.

Sometimes the manufacturer just puts 'ster' on instead of the complete word, kind of a cheapo deal.

Some pendants have the stamp on the link only - check the object always if the link is missing.

This large pendant didnt show any marks but it sure looked like gold. So I used the magnifier and found it cast into the surface.

bracelets frequently have the stamps on the main object but it's not unusual for it to be on the link or findings.

Lastly, sometimes the stamp is a number for gold - most of you are aware of this - but it just might be on the finding only.
