6x8 SEF

Rob (IL)

New member
Larry sent me a 6x8 SEF to try since my 6x10 went south. I really liked the size and shape of the coil. It is just the size small I need. The side to separation was also excellent. Those were the good points.

Now what didn't work for me. The 2.5 and 7.5 read correctly on the Spectragraph but the 22.5 was always higher than it should be. You won't get 3 bars lined up on a coin. Nickels read 25 or 26 instead of 19 which is what all my Whites coils read. Because of the different readings it throws off my tones. So I guess I will get another 6x10.

Rob I am using the 10x 12 and the 6x8 sef and if I run it in the Band Pass filters it will read a nickel at 25 in all Band Pass filters. But if I run in the High Pass filters it reads the nickel at 19 in all the High Pass filter So I run in the High Pass filters.:twodetecting::whites::cheers:

Hmm, I'll try that. I'll see how the rest of the Spectragraph looks on the hi pass filter.

Hey Rob, Is that the coil that I think that Kellyco offers and do you know if so that Larry might have gotten it from there? Thanks for the follow up like you said you would do when you received it. And also I was thinking that even if the VDI's are different that if I buy one I would probably set my coin program like my coin & jewelry program and then alter the tones to match the VDI's for the coins. Then I could use the coin program for that coil only, and coin & jewelry program for all other coils. What would you recommend?

Kellyco is the exclusive US distributor for the SEF coils and although I did not get it from Kellyco, that is where it came from. (Third party involved) I like the coil, but i don't pay much attention to the VDI's so I would not know if they line up or not.

Thanks to all for the help.

I tried it today and in the 3 frequency hi-pass filters it still reads 25 for a nickel for instead of 19. On the Spectragraph, the 2.5 and 7.5 read the same and are lined up. The 22.5 reads high and does not line up.

Hey Tim:Jack from pa.I have the 6x8 sef I run on my V31.I think I remember that they max preform @ single freq.rather than 3 freq.
Where do u run in that respect.thanks Jack

Hey Jack I run in the three freq. in the Hi-Pro program and I run in correlate and in the 5 High Pass filter.:twodetecting::whites::cheers:

I have a 6X8 SEF and i like it allot but the 22.5 frequency limits this coil from gaining its full potential on my V3i. If the manufacturer of this coil ever gets the 22.5 frequency to work as good as the 7.5 and 2.5 frequencies it will be a dynamite coil on the V3i.
