6x8 sef vs. 6" eq2 on depth?

oneguy

New member
currently running the 6" eq2 quite a bit lately and think it's pretty good up to about 7-8" dime. I was thinking about the 6x8 to cover a tad more ground. I'll definately get one if you guys familiar with both coils think you may get more depth with the 6x8 over the 6"....???? Thanks......

I had those same exact Coil's, and only recently have I switch from the 6x8 to the 5x10. The 6x8 runs deeper and covers more ground.,,,,,I consider the 6x8 type of Coils to be mid sized, and the 6 in a small Coil. Both are good to have at your finger tips.

I have the 6" EQ Pro 2 and picked up a barber dime at around 9"..Judging by the Audio signal
I received from the dime I bet another inch would be max! I like the EQ PRO 2 for farm fields
and I would probably go with a Coiltek 5x10 solid coil as a good medium coil and keep the EQ Pro
for the trashiest area's if it was me...I dont think there is a big
enough difference between the Detech and the SEF to make it worth the money! But this is
my opinion...

Thanks guys....

Had no intentions of dumping the 6". It seems that lately most my spots have been real trashy and the few coins left are the deepies. The 6" is frustrating because a guy wants to cover a bit more ground and maybe get a tad more depth but at the same time I really do like it? Might give the 6x8 a shot to cover just a bit more and if it gets a deeper keeper or two then that would be great...???

The 6" EQ coil hits very deep for it's size - it's a fantastic small coil - it's also better in brush stubble and in tight spots then the 6 x 8.
The SEF 6 x 8 is a medium sized coil - it will hit a little deeper then the 6" and cover a little more ground.
Both are excellent coils and both have their stong points.

I dug several at 8, few at nine. One can generally run the sens full bore than with bigger coil. On warm ground the 6x8 sef is better IMO than stock 11" or 10x12sef.
