6x8 SEF on M6

Any one using the 6x8 sef on their m6? If so what's your experience with it? Is it deeper than the 950? How much deeper? How well does it separate? pinpoint?

They work great, outstanding separation, pinpoints like all other dd coils dont know abt depth comparison to 950, looking for one myself in the near future

I get equal performance with either 8x6, or the 6x10. The V3i sure likes the 8x6 better than the 6x10 though.

I have never used a SEF8x6 coil on a M6 but i do use one on my DFX,i have had the DFX i guess 8 years and hated the stock coil so used the brilliant 10x6 Whites coil for years, but since i bought the SEF coil that has become my favourite coil and the one that is used most of the time,i would say that its nearly as deep as the 9.50 stock coil but much sharper and gives better TID number and tones seem crisper.

I much prefer DD coils as the coil over swing is not as critical as the stock coil, pin pointing is spot on,i dont seem to get as much EMI issues either,in geral it makes the DFX a pleasure too use.

Maybe I shouldn't have said "compared to the 950", as everyone may not have the 950. So if you have the 6x8, at what depth does it hit coins? (Dimes quarters nickels, GOLD)???? (Please mention what detector it's on). Presently i'm snowed in so I'm trying to get prepared for the Spring thaw. I know I want the 5.3 eclipse, just trying to decide on a third coil for deeper targets... Thanks for your replies.

The depth will depend on YOUR mineralization. Someone might get 12+ inches in mild ground while others are lucky to get 6 inches in hot ground. Other factors involved with depth is sweep speed and how the detector is set up as well as you are trying to compare a concentric coil to a DD........ they each have their own characteristics, again depending on your ground.

In other words, how deep YOU get, we can't say.

Hi PePa, I have the 6x8 and use it on my MXT. The M6 is just like the MXT without the prospect mode, so it should be about the same. I live in KY. and you are about 200 miles from me and in a lot of coal around you, so that will make a big defiance. But i get really good depth, about 6" to 8" on a dime with the 6x8, but that is in trashy parks. Most of the time i turn down the gain to keep from falseing. If i was out in the open fields i would run it high as i can and think i could get 9" or 10" with out trash. They are very good coils, i don,t use the 950 much any more. the 6x8 is liter and dose a good job. Good Luck Flintstone
