69 cal. triangle base bullets

SWMO Mark

New member
On a previous post there was a discussion about the use of 69 cal triangle base bullets in Missouri. Jeff from Rolla had info that they were probably carried by Illinois troops. After talking to a old relic hunting buddy. He said that he had found one of the mentioned bullets across the river from Forsyth, MO. The major camp at Forsyth was used by Iowa and Illinois troops. So I think that helps prove that Illinois troops carried the triangle base in MO. Hope this is of interest to the MO. relic hunters. Mark

thanks for an update on the bullets being found around Missouri... kinda makes you wonder how the Illinois troops got them? I think morelic55's theory is a good one, but who knows the whole story? Maybe we'll figure it out one day.

There's a story behind every bullet. Wish they could talk. CCH
