a spring day here, so I decided to go out for a spell. We had so much rain, no way I was gonna hit the old soybean fields so I suited up the old M6 with a 5.3 coil and went to a small tot lot a richy neighborhood. Seems I wasnt the only one enjoying the sunshine, as I was the first there earlier in the morning, the place gradually filled up. Im so use to hunting out in the woods or fields, I wasnt use to all the people activity. I stayed long enough to find a few pieces of clad and one ear ring stud but left as more Mommies came out. They wanted to know what I was finding and asking about my detecting, I showed them all of the pieces of sharp metal I had collected to throw away, told them thats just waiting to cut a small child , several told me to come back more often, lol.
Then made the worst mistake of all, went home and wife had HONEY DOs, geesh, a fella cant get a break.
Best,
John

Good story and glad you showed the moms the sharp pieces you found. Many have NO clue as to what all is in the play area where their kids play. Thanks for sharing and they'll probably spread the word and who knows, you could be detecting their private yards. :wiggle: Glad you could get out. We've still got that white stuff on the ground and I think the ground is froze deep!

Speaking of a "honey do" list.........I'm glad you mentioned that! Hey L-A-R-R-Y!!!!!

HH,
Nancy

It's been in the lower seventies here all winter, but I still haven't found much! :veryangry:

It's hard to believe some of the things I've pulled out of the tot lots over the years. Once I found a stainless steel 4" push knife, many thumbtacks, bobbie pins, shredded aluminum can pieces, a lettuce field knife, rusty nails, leaking batteries, rusty beer caps, wire, cartridge cases, LIVE cartridges, etc.

I no longer let my little twin grand-daughters go barefoot in the sand!

Marc

Oh, and I forgot.....last week one of the twins found what she thought was a pen. Turned out to be a used hypodermic needle.

Thanks for posting that Gila Marc. If the administrators of elementary schools knew this, they would probably pay someone to detect it weekly. Hmm, I've got an idea! :surprised: Thanks again and I'm glad someone is staying warm! HH, Nancy
