6000 Pro XL Tuning Questions

Hi Group I would like to adjust my soon to arrive 6000 Pro XL and need some suggestions on using it in GEB/Sat Mode.

After initial balancing do I put the GEB switch to Fixed or GEB/Auto??

Is their a added benefit to enable "BC Accept" in this mode GEB/SAT??

My soil has moderate mineralization and I prefer to hear most all signals for weak deeper detection.

Thanks in advance!

Bill

I wil forward you a PM I got from Monte. He knows this detector well. It should tell you what you need to know.

Congratulations on picking up a 6000 Pro XL! :clapping: they are very good detectors.

Now, I am curious what type of detecting you plan to do, the types of sites you will be hunting, and why you want to use the GEB/SAT mode? Do you want to hear everything present using the autotuned All Metal mode?

I almost always adjust the Ground balance so that I have it set either spot-on or very slightly positive, then I 'Lock' the GB toggle in the center position. Why? Because I hunt a lot of iron infested sites and the auto-tracking can shift with ample iron present, or in some challenging ground I hunt with a lot fo hot rock issues.

BC Accept? Do you mean Hot Rock Accept Vs Hot Rock Reject? That toggle selection is only functional in the motion Discriminate mode, GEB/Disc.

If you want to hear "most all signals" for weaker, deeper detection, then that explains the use of GRB/SAT, but you can accomplish the same thing, just about, using the GEB/Disc. mode and setting a very low Disc. level. How low? Basically it is where you hear all targets and don't reject much of anything. I do that when I hunt lower trash site and want to get better depth of detection.

Also, for 'best depth' and overall performance, set the Signal Balance control as high as possible. Right at the verge of it becoming unstable. This will get depth and allow a slower sweep speed.

Best of success with your new-to-you detector.

Hi Monte, Dose this apply to the Eagle 11sl, also. The balance on the front of the box, dose it set sweep speed? Should it be set at preset mark or higher or lower? I can never get this right. Thanks Dean

Signal Balance function, then yes, it might have some help. I know that White's did mange to improve the ground handling and sweep speed requirements or allowances as the years progressed since the April '85 release of the 6000 Di Pro SL. That would apply to all of those faster to moderate sweep speed models.

With the Signal Balance on the 5900 Di Pro SL, 6000 Di Pro SL, and the 6000 Pro XL and XL Pro, I always set it at the highest possible setting allowable while remaining stable. If it gets noisy and chattery at a higher setting, I just s l o w l y reduce it until the detector is just barely stable. This provides the better depth potential and can let you sweep a bit slower and still be responsive to targets.
