6000 DI PRO SL

I just picked up this 6000 DI PRO SL detector.I had to order a battery pack for it, the guy I got it from hadn't took it out of the closet in over 12 years. He miss placed the rechargeable battery pack and charger. This thing doesn't look like its ever been used. Its so pretty I might make a place on the wall to hang it so folks can look at it. I don't know a lot about it, but have been watching some videos on the youtube and I'm thinking it is at least as deep as my XLT, if not deeper? The nice thing about it is, I already have the royal 800 - 8" and the black max - 6" coils as well as the original Blue Max Deep Scan 950 that came on it. This outta be fun!
I did get the manuel with it, like my XLT, I plan to study the book front to back.
Anyone using or having used this detector and can tell me about it, I'd much appreciate all you can tell me.
Thanks!

I have the 5900 di pro..... your quick start instructions should be printed on the underside of the box.... its a pretty good all round detector.... with the 5.3 inch coil I find it to be excellent for cherry picking clad out of trashy parks... I have found gold with mine on land and at fresh water beaches.... its a fast machine as well... who knows you might like it better than the XLT once you get use to it... happy huntin...

I had the 6000 Di Pro Series 2. It was my first brand new detector going from a few used detectors. It was so great then compared to what I was using. The meter is wonderful. Also I could pinpoint, hold a brass probe over the coil, slide the coil away, then plunge the brass probe down and almost every time hit the target in one shot. Generally the meter needle would hit just a tad higher on silver dimes and quarters compared to clad. Watch the meter scale. Also, watch how the meter deflects. I've put more hours on the 6000 than all my other detectors combined, still to this day. I spent a lot more hours back then though too. Would even wrap the box & display just to go out in the rain.
I let that detector go about 5 years ago. Was such a sad day and don't know why I let it go. Extra coils, hard case and all. Even had a hip mount kit, extension cable and rods for working cut cliff sides. Five battery packs. When I did let it go, the only noticeable wear was on the coil bottoms. Not a mark on the box, display or rod. So it sold right away to the 1st fella that looked at it. He thought I had waxed the thing... lol. I had at times considered adding the SL but for no reason just never did. Maybe because it was my 1st new purchase detector.
Was happy setting all the knobs, ground balancing etc., and loved the analog meter. Probably should have kept it for the occasional swing. It did the job well for as most places I detected were within reach depth of the coils I had. I had a few honey holes I cleaned up back in the day with the 6000. Those were the days. Kind of miss the analog meter. Kind of makes me want to watch a few you-tubes next rainy day with those analog's.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing (hang on wall) with the 6000 Di Pro that I just found at an estate sale http://www.flickr.com/photos/38101769@N06/11003782566/ I also had to purchase a new battery box.

So many things to say about this very capable detector.
Setting the Sig Bal as high as you can and still achieve a proper ground balance and stable operation is going to be key to maximum depth.
Other things that help maximize depth are:
1. set volume to Max and use your headphone volume controls to set volume.
2. set the threshold with volume at max then adjust your headphones
3. hunt in GEB Sat
4. hunt in hot rock accept (unless they are a problem, of course)
5.once you have achieved the perfect ground balance with the maximum Sig Bal, put a nickel on the ground and slowly adjust your disc down until you just lose the nickel signal, then adjust back up until you reliably pick up the nickel. This will disc out most foil bur still get nickels and most gold.

Good luck!
