6000/Di Pro Service

John in Tampa

New member
Just got out my old 6000/Di Pro for the first time in about 5 years. It's workin' but acting a little erratic. Is there anything that commonly happens to these that may need and can be replaced/repaired? If not, may have to get myself an early Christmas present (MXT Pro.....)

Thanks.

Electronic component values can change on older machines and a tune-up would fix that. It is often less than $100 at your nearest White's service center. The 6000/DI Pro is a nice machine and the SL model even better if you have it. Some people who are really "in tune" with the analog detectors do very well with them, but the newer digitals do much better and are easier to use.

I'd go ahead and get the present anyway...but that's just me.

Had the same problem years ago and was informed that the capacitors deteriorate with age and if you can do it yourself, it can be fixed cheaply. Caps are usually around $1.
It helps to know someone, or, send it to Whites.

I sent my DI Pro in a few years back and repaired/updated, they charged me $85. with shipping.
It was smoking out of the battery box and didn't work at all.
came back good as new in about 2 weeks all updated with new parts. Works great.
If you are used to your 6000, it's a cheaper fix to get yourself back into Det'n.
And the 6000 is one of the best analog machines left out there.

Good Luck & HH
