600 Threshold Question

Member
Buddy has the 800 and now I'm ruined but my budget says the 600. I am looking to know what the "fixed threshold" means? I never like the threshold and always silent hunt. I know you get all of the adjustments on the 800 but can the 600 be set for silent hunting?

On the 800 you can adjust the threshold level and you can also adjust the threshold pitch.
You can raise the threshold from silent at 0 to higher areas where you can hear it and also adjust the pitch to a customized frequency for each hunter...if they want to.
There are a few things you can do with a thresh tone set where you can hear it like reject targets and The 800 will blank out if you roll over them.
Kinda like notifying you about targets without actually sounding off on them if you hit one.
The pitch adjustments are nice if an owner has hearing issues or just like listening to thresh tones different than factory settings.
As useful as these can be to some owners to others they are totally ignored.

The 600 has the threshold too but it is set at 0, (silent), and you can't adjust it nor can you adjust the pitch.
It is all preset.
At least I think that is how all this stuff works.

If you are looking for a silent thresh using either at 0 a guy like you is good to go.

I have the 600 and you can adjust the threshold volume. I leave it at zero so I don't have to hear it since I hunt mostly in AM.

Happa54 is correct.

You can indeed adjust the threshold Volume level on both the 600 and 800.

It's the Pitch you can't adjust on the 600...just the 800.

Either way...Rob...you're good to go.

(...see page 44 of the manual.)

If you read the manual you will find this isnt a true threshold unlike the gold mode on the 800..... its only used to help id iron and has no affect on targets. Therefore its noise to me. On the 800 you can get the same/BETTER affect from running no threshold with your first bin volume lowered to 2.... just enough to hear the iron in AM. This will give you a type of background threshold. Lets face it this machine can get chatty .... reduce some of that. As a water hunter its even worse in the salt water on hard pan pushing the envelope.
