Don't be too quick to write off the bay. After hurricane Isabel, I found a total of 17 silver coins out there are well as two silver rings and a gold ring. And my only Barber half, an 1895. And there are quite a few people who go there to swim and sunbathe in the summer. And it gets hit a lot less than the ocean beaches by the detectorists. That said, I probably wouldn't go there unless there was a storm or if I lived right there maybe, to save the longer trip. Here are some of my Isabel finds from the bay. I hit the resort strip too and did OK but did better at the bay.

I will hit it sometimes on the weekend as it's a little further than the Oceanfront. Mike's right, there are a lot of people that go to the bay as well.

This ring is a nice 18k yelloe and white gold band with a weave design. Found it last summer.

Happy hunting!

Nope, sure don't. From the sound of it, they have a few field testers for that one already. I'm also interested in hearing how that goes and getting to swing one. I think I might prefer to stay with my 28 frequencies with the Explorer II for land though. And we know the Excal isn't getting replaced as my beach machine. Sounds like it could be a killer coin and relic machine though, maybe running a different coil for each type of hunting. We do that already with our other machines quite a bit anyway. It's interesting, for sure.
