6" long ornate plate

I found this today and was wondering what it could be off of? about 6" long.

It was next to an old one room school house near where I live. I wish I didn't put that slight bend in it when I was trying to dig it out of the ground.

At first I thought it was for a lock and deadbolt. the round holes were for screwing it down, but it has 3 holes not 2, like a few I seen before. Plus it has those 2 tabs on the back.

thanks in advance!

the longer hole in the middle looks like it might be for some type of electrical switch.

Looks like a plate off the edge of a door. Top square for a dead bolt, Middle for the door latch and the bottom for a second lock. Just guessing though.

The 2 holes close together would've looked like this when on the door....

These two latches close together are the 'latch' and 'deadlocking latch'.

The hole by itself would be for the deadbolt(as apposed to a latch).

It is the decorative plate off of a mortise lock. It could be from the door itself or the plate that sits in the door jamb to accept the latch and dead bolt froom the door itself.
