6 inch smart coil ?

I know that the 6 inch coil will not go as deep as the stock coil but my question is, is the 6 inch coil more sensitive to smaller targets than the stock coil or is it the same?

AS far as depth it all depends on the site if you can run the 6 hotter than the stock it will get the same depth as the stock or deeper .
The 6 will hit smaller targets than the stock coil bb size and small 22 short casings the stock coil will find some of these but the 6 will find most of them . sube

I am not sure if it effects the sensitivity to target size.I do like using the 6 in most situations, except when working in open fields.I used it in a competition beach hunt. It worked great.

Yes. As a rule, smaller coils are always more sensitive to smaller targets. Larger coils are less sensitive to small items. The 6" will pick up items so small, it's sometimes hard to find them.
(Just as the 17" isn't as sensitive to smaller junk but will still pick a dime nicely.)

And, as sube said, depending on your ground you may be able to up the sens on the 6 to help out. Smaller coils aren't as affected by mineralization as larger coils, so they can sometimes be run 'hotter' than the stock coil will allow.
