6 inch coil and a 12-45 signal produce a surprise :)

Went back to the old park area that produced an 1842 dime that i have gone over several times with the
stock coil.
got a strong 12-45 signal ll direction at 4 inches so i figued it would be a quarter
when i started digging there was a root in the way so started working around the root till i say
what first looked like a dirty quarter at the bottom of the hole
When i picked it up i thought this is too big for a quarter so started looking close
OMG it was a large copper
not till i got home and was able to get it cleaned up could i tell it was a 1827 large cent
the oldest coin ever fo first large cent.

Swee coin! What did you use to clean it up so well?

gentle use of brillo and warm olive oil

:clapping: She is a beauty.

Nice surprise

I have an 1827 large cent in worse shape than that one. I still need to boil it in olive oil to get the green stuff off and clean it up. I doubt it will look as good as that one though! :clapping:
