Hi all new on here I use a XT 705 just got the 6" 3khz coil few days back been out twice on pasture land with it settings 99 tones sensitivity between 20 and 24 all segments open don't seem to be have much joy with it dug lot of iron seems very erratic can any one tell me what settings they use do I need to turn sen's down been swinging very slow any replies be very great full thanks in UK

I always like to start by performing an auto noise cancel. There might be serious EMI where you're detecting. Electric fences and power lines are bad news. Turn on auto ground tracking. I like to run the sensitivity as high as possible, usually 25 or higher. Plant a small silver coin about 6" deep in your pasture to check your settings. A high tone in at least one direction is a good indication to dig but rusty nails often sound good. Like you I leave all notches open as much as possible. Some places are just noisier than others. /Syd

Drop your sensitivity to around 17 that is where i have to run mine and it settles down, depth not a problem 6 to 8" depth is not a problem.

Sensitivity droped to 17 ?! Damn !
With the 10.5" DD coil I run mine at 27-28 sensitivity..
It is a general setting for that coil or is it just a specific site setting ?

I'm not sure think it could be site some one else would be better to answer that 10.5 I use between 25 and 28 just this 6" I have problems with

When deciding to reduce Sensitivity, only make changes one click at a time.
If I were you, I'd probably play with offsetting the GB some to see if it helps make your audio more revealing w/o dropping the SENS too much.
