5X8 DD coil

I see that there are a few AT Pro packages out there with the 5X8 coil as the stock coil instead of the 8.5X11

What seems to be everyone's preference? I see that a few folks have switched to the 5X8 . .

I'm a convert, sometimes. If I'm hunting woods or high trash it's great. Beach or open areas with low trash I still like the stock coil. I'm thinking of going with the 5x8 as my wading coil as well. Once beach conditions improve I'm going to give it a shot.

If i could only have one coil it would be the 5x8 though.

I'm thinking that the 5x8 will serve me better. As it seems that most of my hunts involve wallowing through tall grass and brush. And I can see the 5x8 having less drag when hunting shallow water too. Still looking for an AT Pro w/5x8 coil package with the backpack & camo hat. Gotta have the hat ..:super:

I only use the 8.5 X 11 coil. I hunt mostly woods and open areas. I even use it around colonial foundations. trashy and noisy, but it still separates targets good enough for me. I have the 5 X 8 that came with my AT GOLD and I have never used it. I will still hold on to it because you never know when you need a smaller coil. My wife surprised me Christmas and ordered me a hat from Garrett. I Love it!!

It is nice to have options. I have three coils to choose from with my other detector. So do you have the Pro and the Gold ? Or did the Gold come with both coils?

The 5x8 comes on the AT-Gold, or purchased separately for the AT-Pro. I don't think there's any package deals for the AT-Pro with the 5x8.

At the risk of having this post removed ... here is a link. Not really a "package deal" ..... but it is offered.

One person has said they requested it set up that way from Garrett and they sent it to his dealer.
