5X8 Coil For AT PRO

Yep!

The weight..
Stock coil is not that much deeper..
The 5x8 has better separation, for the places that I hunt..
Easier to find a clean spot to GB..

I have not put the stock coil back on since i got the 5x8 coil. My best finds were found with this coil.

Hi cintitomcat

The 5x8 coil is a great investment no doubt, but let's be real here. It's not as deep as 8.5x11 coil (by about 2-3) inches from my own tests and it doesn't see things quite as well under rocks like the stock coil does (again) from the tests I have done on both coils.

Where the coil shines, is in high trash areas as it does a better job in picking through and identifying tragets better than the stock coil and the only place I use the 5x8 coil on my machine. I don't know where you plan on metal detecting at, but the beach and relic hunting I use the stock coil for that and for playgrounds, I use the 5x8 coil.

Every coil has it's strong points and weak points cintitomcat and you need to know that before purchasing one. Overall it is a great coil to have for sure as it's very good in seperating targets in high trash areas.

As for the weight, the 5x8 is lighter, but that's not an issue with me personally running either coil as it is with some others here.

For ground coverage and depth the stock coil is awesome. Again each to there own here as this reoccurring subject is based on personal preferences and hunting styles. The more coils you have the more versatile your detector is.
Cheers!

I am not saying use the 5x8 in wide open fields,, where the stock coil would work just fine,, I don't find to many of those places,,
use what works for you in your site and soil....
I use my 5x8 first, then decide what to use...
If the 8.5 x 11" coil would work in every place,, then they would not have made other coils...
And my stock coil picks up more EMI than my 5x8 coil, in those EMI places...

I have my 1st AT Pro with the 8.5 x 11.
2nd AT Pro with the 5 x8"
and my AT Gold with the 4.5" coil...

We don't have as much history as other States....
So many of our sites have been pounded,
that's one reason I look for heavy trashy areas.
A lot of people here will not hunt those places..

Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm fairly new to all this. What does EMI mean?
I have been using an ACE 250 for 3 years now, but have an AT Pro in the mail as we speak....er, type. I'm trying to stuff this pea brain of mine with as much treasure hunting knowledge as possible.
Thanks!

Have it on mine all the time . I have the stock coil as well and don't care much for it as it off balances the machine Just purchased the 6x9 concentric to try out , Also I have not been convinced that the stock coil is that much deeper seeking than the 5x8 as for as my ground . If I properly ground Balance my machine I have hit coins at 8 inches with the 5x8 and the stock coil has not done any better than that as for as in my ground anyway and here in Texas Clichy clay is hard to penetrate through and get any depth JMHO

Electro Magnetic Interference. Similar frequency radio waves that cause interference. Like power lines, use of cordless/cell phones, other detectors in the area. and stuff like that.

With the AT Pro you can switch between 4 frequency to help minimize or eliminate that EMI or chatter you maybe picking up.
