5X10 hf eliptical coil

Boris

New member
Hey guys I just got lucky,,,,no not that I contacted Gerry from "Gerrys Detectors" and he sold me a new 5x10 hf coil for 110.00 because it has a scratch in a decal. I guess he bumped it into something. He has always done me right, good man.

hi Boris the 5x10 works in trashy areas better than the standard coil it pinpoints right under the front. cant waite for spring to get on the beach again. frank barnett.

Yup I like that coil too:) But with the snow on the ground I tink I am going to try my waterproof HF DD round one I just picked up from Andy:thumbup:

And yes that "Little guy" from Iddaho is allright...Good luck with your new coil!!

Nick

That is one of my favorite coils and I find the depth is very adequate too. This fall I dug 11 old silver dimes on a hunt in cold weather with 1 1/2" of snow over grass that was 6" and somewhat matted. My point is that I couldn't get the coil down right on the surface, maybe 2" above the surface and still dug many silver dimes at 5" to 6". Not to mention this coil is feather light.

That 5x10 is also becoming my favorite coil for coin shooting. It's light and seperates pretty good.

Yeah, now if Minelab would only make it waterproof. Here in Portland, it rains too much or the ground is too wet to use it without taking a chance. Or else you stay inside when it rains. (Not a chance -- you would spend 1/2 the year inside).

I was told by more than one MDer that this coild is water resistant and is ok to use in wet grass etc. I am not to sure I would want to submerge it even if it was waterproof due to it being hollow and tending to float, it would be difficult to use. I thank you all for your comments and I am also looking fwd to springtime. It is 3* here and a lot of snow,,,,yuck.

I took my 5 x 10 dd hf coil to the swimming hole. I found change around the beach ( fresh water ) -- then I took it out about 2 ft. I found a few quarters and a few pennies My coil still works fine. the next time I will take a water proof coil the lake is set up for a special swim area It is about waist deep out 20-30 yards. Didn't want to press the issue!! HH Gary

It's my favorite "go to" coil. I use that one most of the time.

I bought my X-70 without the 5x10" HF DD so I cannot give feedback on how it performs.

Nick, is your >waterproof HF DD round one< the 6" or 10.5" HF DD round coil??

The round 10.5" MF DD is VERY popular BUT no one hardly ever talks about the round 10.5" HF DD, as if it does not exist, and also the 9" HF Concentric as well?

David it's the 10.5 HF DD, Just got it and haven't had a chance to use it yet. My niece came out with her kids so we went snowmobileing and I didn't get to swing this W/E:sad:

So you do have the 10.5" HF DD, not many people seem to buy that one. They buy the MF instead. What exactly did you buy it for, for what purpose I am curious??

I saw a movie-show about Saudi Arabia yesterday. They did cook up and ate Camel and Lizard meat at meals but will not eat Pork. My dad's family was raised on Pork meat from childhood all their lives as their number one home raised meat to eat regularly, never hurt them. And Dad's family lived VERY long lives as dad's 5 brothers and sisters are still alive now in their 80's and 90's and older than my dad at 77. So Pork is proved harmless for my dad's family and a person has to wonder if both the Moslems and Jews are wrong in this dietary matter.

Also Lizardchaser, this is what I just wrote on another Forum yesterday, you may be interested. I cut a lizards tail off by accident with the blunt end of my Walco pick. Did not see him hid and burried in the ground when I was digging. I had a Minelab SD 2200 at the time:

"I am not much interested in snakes but not scared of them either. But once a while ago I had an SD machine and when I was digging with my pick I looked down and I saw I cut a snakes tail off by total accident as it must have been in the ground. I was shocked! But on a second careful look I had cut the tail off of a lizard instead!! He was burrowed in the ground and I did not see him! I would never do this intentionally!

Chris, congratulations! But an answer the small problem that Jon is taking about. My cousin and his wife have a Philipino nanny to help look after their 2 children, both under 6 years old, right now as they are doing this at the present time. This maybe can help keep a parents sanity when kids go wild and also the parents get very little sleep. Just an idea.
