I took a look at mine and it appears to be flat. Not sure what you are referring to, I guess. But I agree, it doesn't fit as tightly as most other coil/cover combinations I have. I think if the elliptical cover were just simply made a bit smaller, for a tighter fit, it would help. Most other coil covers are allowed to go to the top surface of the coil. Or, the covers have a little lip that secures on the coil. This one is not only a smooth surface, without a lip, but the rim at the top of the coil doesn't allow it to wrap over or even go to the top surface. It just slips on, without sufficient friction to hold it in place. I suppose some would argue that being able to take it off quickly, to clear sand or dirt, is a positive. And some would prefer to not use a coil cover. Personally, I always use the cover. But I wrap a couple wraps of black vinyl electrical tape around the "seam". (I don't water hunt) It keeps the dirt and debris out from between the coil and cover. And, it easy to peel off and replace, should I chose to do so. Much less time consuming than removing an old layer of silicon, cleaning and replacing the silicon. Like I said, I don't water hunt. HH Randy
