5x10 coil

swapping out coils is a pain . I have the Racer pro pack and use the 5" coil a lot.. I was thinking of getting the 5x10 " coil . Will it run close to neck and neck with the 5" coil. I want great separation but also coverage . With the lease changing coils all the time. Thanks , GS

The 5x10" coil is a very good all around coil for the Racer. I was in the same boat as sometimes when taking just the coil that was on the detector, I'd find I wanted a smaller coil than the 11" and sometimes wanted a larger coil than the 5". I should have just always taken the second coil with me and all my extra coils are mounted on their own lower rod but sometimes I just grab a second detector with a different sized coil. I found the 5"x 10" fits the bill for when I only want to take the detector with one coil and I'm not sure what the site will be like until I get there. It separates very well but gives that extra coverage you don't get with the 5" OOR coil.

It is the main coil I use less I'm in very bad iron or trash

The only way to go is have to lower rods on each coil. I carry the five inch with me but use the 5x10 just about all of the time

Thanks guys, I was trying to see if getting the 5x10 is worth it. Yes I could get another rod , but , only having one arm that works is a pain in the a$$ changing it out. I just wanted to keep 1 coil on . GS

No question that it is worth it it is the best coil made

I have two of coils and the racer each time I use it and I got one of the first ones blows me away what a great detector it is and how it really can keep up with my Deus. If the ever take the racer to the next level and not add bell and whistles it could be the learder of the pack.

Remember when hunting in trash or lots of iron you can turn down the power as low as 35 and get great targets that are at least six inches...They may sound softer but this only works if I'm right in two tone

Will remember that , thanks . GS

'back-up' coil to always keep mounted on a spare lower rod and make a coil change quicker ... if needed. My stock 7X11 DD really never gets used, but I have it on its own lower rod just to be prepared.

But for ME, the little 4.7X5.2 DD 'OOR' coil is what works the best for me all-around because I DO hunt trashier sites almost exclusively. Those are the places I have concentrated on finding for a long time, and the smaller-size search coils tend to work the best. And some makes and models, such as the Makro Racer, can provide surprising depth-of-detection with such a smaller-sized search coil, all the while being one of the best performers in production today for handling a dense iron nail contaminated site.

So, I am glad to see you added a very good coil to your arsenal, but don't ignore the all-purpose abilities of that little 'OOR' coil.
