5900 di pro or idx pro?

Which one would be wiser to buy? This isn't a long-winded post like my last one lol.

Idx pro has automatic ground balance, and is lighter, but it has a jumpy target i.d.

5900/di pro has a good meter & an adjustable ground balance, but is heavier.

The only thing I'm really wondering is which is better, an adjustable ground balance or an automatic? Auto I wouldn't have to adjust or anything but less depth, manual I may have to adjust alot but I'd get more depth.

I would have included the 6000/di pro in all this but that's just a bit over my price range lol.

Like I said last night on the chat room, I had a 5900 for many years and know it is an excellant machine. Myself, even tho I use a DFX now, I like the manual GB better than AUTO-- once you learn manual GB you don't have to worry about too many ferrous signals changing your GB. Where I hunt tho, the ground is very stable and doesn't change quickly, except I hunt fields that have so much iron it's almost a consant signal!

At this point, what's BEST for me may not be BEST for you. Not knowing what your looking for or your budget... all I can say is six of one and 1/2 doze of the other.

Myself personally,
* For weight, the IDX is BEST.
* For Simplicity of Use and Understanding, the IDX is BEST
* For handling the Ground Noise which can cost you performance, the 5900 Di Pro is BEST unless you want to put addl $$$ in Mr Bills Mod.
* For TR Discrimination in ultra trashy areas, the 5900 has it, the IDX does not, although the IDX as a motion detector is Fast over the target center, even faster than the newer technology Prizm because of the Prizm Tone ID.
* For Versatility and Loop Availabilities, the 5900 Di Pro is BEST.
* For Building Up your Man Hooks, the 5900 Di Pro is BEST.
* For Battery Life, the 8AA Battery System of the IDX is LONG lasting compared to the 4C Cells of the 5900 Di Pro. 65 hours v 12 hours give or take.
