Within the past few days I've spoken to someone pretty much in the "know" about this detector, and I don't think I'm as excited about it as I was before.. It's a single frequency machine that is essentially a jazzed up T-2 in the respect that it's not as affected by power lines etc, and a few other minor improvements. Now, if the T-2 is perfect in every other respect, it will be interesting to see how many people lay down their hard earned money for a machine that really doesn't promise to do anything that most top end machines aren't already doing. Let me be the first to say I hope my instincts based on this conversation are wrong We'll see in a few months when it finally hits the market..

For me, solving the interference problem on the T2 would make a great detector even better. That plus the other features I've read about make it a very desirable machine to me.

if your refuring to those 2 red sheet dealers, they have already proved themselves wrong on several occations, starting with having prototypes in October. That's why they are very silent now. Rest assured they will be back en force in Feb. pushing it hard again. So, I'm done with the rumors and will wait and see for the real thing- not dealer speculation and marketing trickery from those who claim to have an "IN".

The frequncy may very well be same as a t-2. I don't think that's a bad thing at all as the t-2s a nice machine so why stray too far from a winner? Ergonomically it's excellent, so take a winner and improve on it- seems like good biz to me.
-Do what, go back to a 1270 or coin-strike big black box on a stick? IE.-ergonomic nightmares.

Only a single frequncy you say? Again- another good thing. There are plenty of CZ's in dealer stock if you drank the Minelab Kool aid that more is better. Oh wait, they went back to single frequency themselves. Hmmmmmmmmmm. :nerd:

I'm sure there will be many naysayers who take one look at the Fish-75 picture and say: "t-2 with a backlight". Fellas enjoy nitpicking sort of as a way to talk themselves out of buying new things. You said it's nothing different- how do you know? The t-2 reading the mineralization of the soil is new- and quite useful. Maybe we can then aquire used t-2's cheap as it's a superior detector in it's own right. Could use a back-up for the old lady myself.

I have to laugh that most of the naysayers and nitpickers have never held a t-2 in their lives to begin with. There's an old saying: "Don't knock it till you try it".

Coils to the soil,

Jack

New one on me.... "Only a single frequncy you say? Again- another good thing. There are plenty of CZ's in dealer stock if you drank the Minelab Kool aid that more is better. Oh wait, they went back to single frequency themselves. Hmmmmmmmmmm." :rofl:I believe the new SE STILL has 28...You guys crack me up...I love comeing to this forum....It's always good for a change of pace:rofl::starwars:

You're right, almost anything can be considered speculation until we actually have a unit in our hands. Also,it could be that an improved T2 would be all that it would take to make people happy.. I can't say since I've never handled a T2. As for my "source, it was not any dealer, but rather someone much, much closer to where the action is. Having said that, it doesn't mean they were telling me the 100% truth, but they certainly didn't seem to be hyping the unit. Personally, I hope it's a fantastic detector....

Who said anything about an SE? Geez- I figured a Minelab man like yourself would have a clue as to what I was refering to.

The X-Terribles are 1 frequency. Oh, unless you count the gimmick of buying another floating coil to change the frequency counts?

28 arrows? Woah! Speaking of gimmicks. If ya'll think that translates into 28 inches more depth your sadly mistaken. I have some snake oil for sale too :)

But, since you felt the need to dip into a Fisher conversation that touched upon good ergonomics vs. nightmarish ergonomics- well then yes the SE would fit right into that nightmare part perfectly.

Have a nice day now

Jack
