I went to a closed Air Force base today that was in use from 1942-1964. It is now next to a job core, and the buildings have had several uses since. I read most of Andy's book last night and made a few changes. I went to ground difficult, fast. Still no deep targets? Maybe ill try deep on next hunt. There's got to be some deeper signals there.

Just keep in mind, that Deep "on" only affects weak target signals thus enhancing identification of deep targets. It does not increase the detecting depth. If you are running Fast "on" for trashy areas, make sure that you also have your Trash Density sent to "high". If your sensitivity is running at 20 or above in auto + 3, there may not be very many deep targets to find. I've found 6 - 8 inch targets on a consistent basis with Auto + 3 running at 20. Does the ground you're digging in have any moisture in it or is it fairly dry? Very dry ground reduces depth. That's why it's a good idea to try and get out after a rain when the ground has some moisture in it. Have fun with it and don't worry about not finding any deep targets. They will come in droves once you get some more experience.
