505 VS 705

From what I can tell, the only difference between the 505 and the 705, is that the 705 has the "prospecting mode", and the "pinpoint sizing" --- I traded away my 705, but am thinking I need to give it another try. --- I have no need for the prospecting mode, so should I buy the 505 and save $150? Max power for max depth is my concern. (coin shooting) Thanks---TTF

The 705 will be the most sensitive as they are intentionally designed that way in a stair step fashion. This can be verified by two means; one is air test, and secondly by using the same coil over mineralized soil and noting how high the sensitivity of each model can be pushed before noise appears.

I am new to this hobby but if I was going to upgrade and had no intention of prospecting I would buy a more dedicated machine like the Sov GT.
That is Just me and I bought the 705 because it also has the prospecting ability. After I learn my 705 real well I will most likely add a more dedicated machine or two. Which one will depend on what I end up spending the most time hunting.

I am curious though if you already had a 705 and moved on why would you get another?? I guess I don't understand that, when in your post you don't mention absolutly loving the machine.

If I were to buy another machine today I would buy a Sov GT or a dedicated gold machine (I think). I have yet to do any prospecting but will this summer.
I am sure when I do it will be a learning experience and somone like Bill will help me out with my issues like these guys did with wy threshhold issues.
