$5000 coin!

Well-known member
Looking at the 2nd pic of the hole, I need to do a better job of hole digging and get a piece of material to catch the dirt on! The soil was very dry and I couldn't dig a solid plug but I did leave it covered in/over well when I left the area.
That said, when I saw the coin in the hole I knew it wasn't silver and thought it was a post 1964 1/2 dollar, but then realised it was too big for a 1/2 and saw the $5000 on it and realised it was a Mexican coin. It's not worth much and seeing these coins on EBay for sale at maybe $4-$6 confirmed it's worth!!! It was still fun to see a coin I wasn't familiar with!!
P.s. I placed the Kennedy 1/2 next to it for a comparison.

Now you can tell folks (truthfully) that you found a $5000. coin. Neat Find.

I always bring a towel when I go MDing and lay it right next to where I cut the plug - everything goes on the towel and I can break it up and spread it around to my heart's content and not make a mess. When finished the towel makes a good chute to get every bit of dirt back in the hole, nice and tidy. Also makes it easier to locate your find if you don't have a pinpointer with you.
