50 Conductive tones too many ?

One of the few gripes i have with the ctx is the "all or nothing" availability of conductive tones. . I personally think 50 conductive tones is way too many for my liking , so looking at my options i have the next option of 4 conductive tones!.
I am amazed minelab did not give an option of say 20 or 25 conductive tones this would be nice. even 17 conductive tones would be nice. I wonder if this would be possible with a future software update.

What would you want out of say 20 tones? I think having multi-tone, or basically a tone for each conductive target segment, and then just a few tones(4 or 2 or 1) is logical. Not sure how you would arrange 20 tones?

I personally like the multi-tone because it keeps me from having to look at the display on every target.

Are you the same guy who complained this on another forum???

Well Des first and foremost i have posted many many posts all over the Internet about different metal detectors and i will if you wish show you the posts. I give my own honest opinions
and reviews of different detectors from different manufacturer's , i post information on what i see how a detector works and how it generally appeals to me with it's functions and performance
I rarely get bad feedback about any thing i post. I love metal detectors and actually rebuild old machines from the 70's for my own use. I have posted in all honesty much positive stuff about the CTX.
I only post about machines i use or have used. I want to know the reason why the designers only gave 50 conductive tones with only another option of 4. i plain and simply think the manufacturer made a mistake
the 50 tones might appeal to others but it dont like having limited options on this conductive tones thing. Don't open a can of worms des it's just a metal detector. I know iron hearted gog is your buddy and I NOTICE he flaunts his
hundreds of thousands of pounds made from using minelab- "FLAUNTS HIS GOLDEN TRASURES.". Where does he keep these traeasures :)

I've had my ctx for a year now and have followed this forum since day 1. it was posted a couple months back that minelab has given us all we need to be productive. they've moved on to bigger and better things. so as for any updates even a simple as another bin. not likely. we have received all we're going to get.

I you use the combined mode you can have 5 tones.

Don't mean to offend.
Don't know anything about ironheartedgog either. However I do know the man.

What I do know is: Minelab owners and users asked for the ability to have control over and be able to manually manipulate tones.
Minelab listened and created this feature.
People still complain.
Can't please all the people all the time...

All or nothing? That isn't how mine works. I have several options available in either ferrous, conductive, or a combination of both. It certainly isn't all or nothing. But even if it were.......I know my hearing isn't as good as it once was, but when I use 50 tone in trashy areas, I can't tell the difference between the audio of a 12/26 and a 12/27 ...or any two adjacent CO bins, without glancing at the display. If you can tune yours to 50 tone conductive and recognize the difference between two adjacent CO bins when you are out on a hunt, you're hearing (and memory) is much better than mine. JMHO HH Randy

My initial response was to point out that there are other options than those you describe. However, j piddle 's post seems to insinuate that I misinterpreted your post. Digger is there really any reason to believe that Minelab will make anymore changes to the CTX software? We have been repling to that posting for a year and its seem to fall on deaf ears! If they really cared they have had plenty of time to show it.

Thanks,
Greg

Speaking of the tones here is something I read from some one I am going to try.

if you utilize "4 tone CO", and you want to hear a difference between audio responses of two targets that have similar CO characteristics, such as a pull tab and Nickel (US 5-cent coin), you can narrow the 2nd CO bin to the width of the nickel Co range (CO 11-15 values), and assign the same high-pitched tone as of high conductive coins to this bin. When you detect a pull tab lying next to a nickel, you will hear two different tones, low and high, and dig up the high-tone target - a nickel.

The reasons I believe they will continue to update the CTX3030 are two-fold......1. Status in the marketplace...... it is their Flagship hobby detector. 2. Economics.....The ability to upgrade the detector platform without redesigning the hardware. The reason I ask the posts to be centrally located is because I know they are monitoring that string of posts. JMHO HH Randy
