50 coin day: Tinkerbell 925 "O", rocket and the newbie!

Leslie(nova scotia)

Well-known member
From the land of the Bluenose..hooked up today with Digger Dan who is a newbie who I instantly took a liking to as he took my advice and purchased a little yellow fellow! Showed him the basics and set him loose on the playing field on a north end Halifax school. In no time he was bending down digging up coins!

I was doing along the edge of the field when I found Tinkerbell's silver ring. Man this has to be the smallest silver ring I have ever found. Nice 925 engraved inside the band!

Meanwhile Digger Dan was on the other side getting used to the pinpointing of targets and having a good time. Big smile on his face when he pulled up a twoonie $2 coin) as I dug up one of those cap rockets. Man havent seen one of those since I was about 12....well me son that was long before recorded time without a doubt! Must say I still feel like a little kid every time I go out a digging!

Well the day was coming to an end as I had taken the night shift off work to attend our year end umpire party which includes all you can eat and drink plus our paychecks! Dig netted Digger Dan about 25 coins while I ended up with the silver ring, cap rocket and 61 coins @ $9.78

Best find of the day...watching the newbie have a blast and the emergence of the "little bouy" playing in the dirt smile!

nice finds leslie and digger dan ,I like that Cap dart you found it's been awhile since I seen one of those!! Nice ring also how many does that make leslie 2,274 rings for ya!!

that's the rocket shaped item in the pic. You would put caps in between the rounded end and the shaft and throw it upward. When it hit, nose first, it would make a loud bang. steve in so az

Caps that go in a cap gun (the paper roll type ) ,tear a piece of cap off roll and place between the head of dart and free floating hammer part and throw the dart pops on contact. I hope explained it right to understand,

that is why we do it! So we can be little kids playing in the dirt again! :) I found one of those rockets last year!

and that cap rocket - man - I haven't seen one either since I was a kid back in say the 50's. Great finds - all of them - including Digger Dan. May it be the beginning of a great friendship between you guys.
