50 coin day fix with silver

Leslie(nova scotia)

Well-known member
From the land of the Bluenose......after helping the brother in law move and stack a cord of wood I was free for a couple hours as Marie and her sister went shopping and to hit a few flea markets.

Another bright sunny day with the air having a tad of a nip to it so I double bagged myself in clothing and headed to the big metropolis of Halifax to do the dew. Mind you I tried the Dingle first but my Green machine was having another pissy fit and chattering up a storm. Man is that new Garrett fickle when it comes to areas that it likes to hunt! So I packed up and moved on thinking to myself how glad I'll be when I send the twins to the Garrett doctor after Xmas.

Jaunted to a school in the north end with a 50 coin or two hour hunt in mind with whatever coming first. Had the place to myself till this fat cat and I mean fat cat with an identity crisis started following me around the playing field.................darn thing must have known I despise felines! Made the mistake of scratching it's back and made a friend for life who I had to shoo away as it was stalking around my feet. Felt a bit bad about that but my moment of false kindness paid off with a 1965 Yank Rosie dime which I believe is silver followed by a small silver ring which happened to be right next door to a plug that I had dug on the last outing here with the Bardman. Wasn't long before I had my 50 coins so it was off to the races....rather the kitchen as I'm about to make spaghetti after I finish posting.

Wish me luck on my job interview tomorrow as my old job ceases on the 20FEB06.

Best of luck on the job interbview Leslie. If there are any extras up there let me know (mine may be ending soon enuff, as well).
As for the roosie dime, the last year of silver was 19-6-4, so you missed it by a year. Odd that it was so silvery shiny, though. Usually clads turn brown after awhile in the ground, unless it was recently lost - they do go a long time in circulation.
As always nice pics... I think Ill start totin my digcam along on outings.

Nice pics and as always, a great narrative of your hunt. And a ring to boot. You're gonna be deadly when you actually get a Garrett that works right!!
