5 inch Coil for the F5

Gerry M

New member
Middlesex Detector Sales is advertising a 5" DD Search Coil for the Fisher F5.

Has anyone tried this coil on their F5?

What's been your experience?

I'm considering getting an F5 and am wondering whether it would also be worthwhile getting the 5" DD Search Coil in addition to the stock coil.

BTW, I'm primarily a coin shooter...

The 5 inch DD search coil works great in small trashy areas, but it is not the best choice for those in between areas. For me, the NEL Sharpshooter coil is the better choice. Not too big for trashy areas and not too small to cover the larger areas. It doesn't hurt to have both, but if I had to pick just one, it would be the Sharpshooter coil.

Its a good little coil but just a hair small, a 6" is just about the right size. I haven't used the Sharpshooter but have heard they are even better.
