Hi guys, I was stoked for my hunt today, spent 5 hours down there, I found a honey hole, and didn't move for the last 2 hours, I was just scooping and pin pointing. I found an average of a coin every 2 minutes, for the last 2 hours, but no gold or jewellery.
In the first 3 hours I found some sinkers, and I saw a massive hole that another detectorist had left. I went over, and this hole was proper massive! It was about a metre diameter, and 40-50cm deep! I got a cracking signal, so they obviously didn't manage to recover the target. 4 scoops later, and I had a 1933 sold silver cigarette case! It weights 43.2 grams! Happy days! Then the next signal (which was under a massive rock which took a bit of leverage to move) turned out to be an old policemans whistle!
I wish that I had a sifting screen, I've never found a honey hole before, the coins were flying out of there! The coins were a mixture of ages, some old some modern. The oldest I can read was from 1943.
Last chance on the beach tomorrow, then I'm off to Spain detecting for 2 weeks.......
