5 hours on the clay=1933 cigarette case, policemans whistle

Hi guys, I was stoked for my hunt today, spent 5 hours down there, I found a honey hole, and didn't move for the last 2 hours, I was just scooping and pin pointing. I found an average of a coin every 2 minutes, for the last 2 hours, but no gold or jewellery.
In the first 3 hours I found some sinkers, and I saw a massive hole that another detectorist had left. I went over, and this hole was proper massive! It was about a metre diameter, and 40-50cm deep! I got a cracking signal, so they obviously didn't manage to recover the target. 4 scoops later, and I had a 1933 sold silver cigarette case! It weights 43.2 grams! Happy days! Then the next signal (which was under a massive rock which took a bit of leverage to move) turned out to be an old policemans whistle!
I wish that I had a sifting screen, I've never found a honey hole before, the coins were flying out of there! The coins were a mixture of ages, some old some modern. The oldest I can read was from 1943.
Last chance on the beach tomorrow, then I'm off to Spain detecting for 2 weeks.......

Awesome!! I love old whistles like that. Nice chunk of silver also. Congrats

Chunk of silver! :surprised: Beauty! Some poor sap gave up on digging it thinking it was a can or large scrap no doubt! Get us a pic of the loot from that honey hole when you get a chance!

Thats why you should never give up on a signal...it could be anything..although, got to admit ive given up a few times when the hole gets huge!!
good luck in Spain mate :)

Glad you found your honey hole and the silver cigarette case. Too bad the other detector gave up on this signal. Every time I get tired and frustrated at all the junk targets and start not to dig, I find something very special. Always listen to that little voice in your head, but I don't tell anybody I hear voices or they will call the guys in the straight jackets for me. Maybe intuition is a better word or experience. Post some photos when you get a chance of all those coins. HH.

Thanks guys, when I'm back from Spain I'll post a picture of all the coins, check out the silver reale on my last post! Recon that's my best coin ever. Good luck, hope you're all ok on the other side of the pond with this terrible winter you're having:)
