$5 Gold Piece

Lunk

New member
Howdy all,

I would like to increase the odds off finding my first gold coin, and since more $5 gold pieces were minted than any other gold coin, iI figure if I'm lucky enough to find a gold coin, chances are that it will be one of those. Problem is, none of the local coin shops have one that I can test on my F 75 LTD; does anyone here know what target ID range a $5 gold piece hits on the F75 LTD/SE? Thanks for any replies...

My F-75LTD ID's a Half Eagle $5 dollar gold coin at -- 53 to 55...stays pretty much on 53. In 4 or 4h tone, it hits at the 3rd highest tone, or second back from the highest. In 3 tone it hits mid tone.

Forgot to add this is an air test in BP mode, sens 99, disc 0.

Thats a good signal..rare signal too..not many things hit right in there in the mid 50's...sure a rotten zink, or a certain sized piece of canslaw will pop off in the high 50's...but I bet a gold coin will have a much more solid type of hit..."whump" unless its masked by ANOTHER, or a silver dollar or something...I sure hope one of us finds one this Summer!....I've been thinking about them a lot too...and I believe thats half the battle right there, if a fellow sort of targets something, he's more likely to spend time where one could be and focus up on the proper signals....good post, Lunk!:please:

Thanks for the info Steve O and Mudpuppy, much appreciated; I'll let you know when I find one...:bouncy:

I read somewhere that 3 nickles taped together will give a signal like a 5 dollar gold piece. On my tek gamma that is 64. Anyway good luck! Cal

Thanks cal, I read the same thing too and it's real close at 49-50 on my F75 LTD.
