5 Filters

V3I-- I have been reading alot about filters. Is it a good thing to leave it on five filters all the time or just in trashy areas and does it make that much of a difference.

The answer is no it is not best to leave it on the 5 filter unless that is the right filter for your soil. Yes it makes a difference if you have the right filter, just like it is important you have the best G/B you can have. Will it work with other than the correct filter, YES. Will it be at its optimum, NO.

The 5 filter is not the filter that is used in the Hi Trash program. The 5 would , however, allow a slower sweep which might help when working in between trash.

I think  the two biggest problems people have are choosing the autotrac speed and choosing the filter to use.

Your swing speed and ground mineralization should help you deside which filter will work best, but in-ground testing on a deep target speaks volumes. Take the extra 10 minutes on the next deep natural target and try the different filters varying your swing speed and the V3i will tell you which is best. The Band Pass filters also does a better job in high EMI situations. The 7.5 Band works best for me in most of the grounds I hunt in so I just leave it there.

I use the 7.5Hz or 5Hz Band or High Pass depending on the soil conditions. Wetter conditions sometimes require more filtering. I rarely use the 10Hz filters and never have used any higher. After a lot of use, you will develop a sixth sense that will help you decide.
