5" excellerator coil questions

I have had my mxt for almost a year now. I generally go to ball fields or parks and I have been pretty succesfull with the stock coil. I am interested in the 5" excellerator and would like to know if anyone can answer a few questions.
1) Because of its size will I be able to crank up the gain? ground here is in the mid to high 70's and anything over +1 with the stock coil is too erratic and noisy.
2) what is really the "honest depth" of this mini coil? I have read dimes at 6"
3) With the mineralization I have here am I better off to get the 14" excellerator instead? or both?
4) because of its size are you able to cover the ground as quickly as the standard coil,or do you have to go way slower?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

slapshot,
I did a quick search and here's a very informative post by Monte on those coils.
I have only used one of the Excel coils (12.5" on a ML Advantage) and have been very happy with it. The bigger sizes do pick up a little electrical interference at times, as Monte stated, but turning down the gain a little usually solves that and you still get very good performance.

The soil in Kentucky is about 55 varies some. Use relic mode, low or no disc, full gain. Depth difficult to say 5" or so.
