5" EXcelerator Search coil

Happy New Year to all. Has any one use this coil? I am thinking on buying one. I am using a 10.5 inch coil on my explorer II SE. I have had some good results with this coil but feel I am missing some of the targets.

Don't know about the Excelerator but I have managed to pluck some $ between the junk with a Sun Ray 5" Stealth on my EC2

Hey Aval. I just went out this morning with my 5" coil & this is what I found.

A small kids ring that came in like a penny. 1-2"

Bullet, (unknown to me as of yet, but I think is Civil War era),came in good, about 4-5".

2 wheaties - being cleaned - both were 5-6" deep. I'm impressed.

And a bunch of pennies, 2 nickles, 7 dimes & a quarter, all clad.

I love it for trashy areas. I'm still evaluating it. I just got it, myself. Also getting the 8" coil, but it is on back order.

I use the 5" excel. on my explorer II & it works great in trash area ,u have 2 keep the coil low & go real slow. I really think its a great coil, u dont even need 2 use pinpoint, & u get nice depth. GOOD HUNTING & GOOD LUCK. GG

I have both the 5" and the 4" x 7.5".... I would choose the 4" x 7.5...
you wont be disappointed

I have one and it works great in areas with allot of trash. It's found some silver rings and coins.

Thanks for the info. The bullet sure looks like a civil war bullet. I believe it is call a 3 ringer or ringer. My friend in Saratoga , NY has found several of them.

I use the stock and the Sun-Ray X-5. They both have their place for use. The X-5 coil works the trash infested areas and under low brush easier. One of the best things I done with the X-5 is mounted the coil on another lower carbon shaft with the next up center shaft. I hated working the connector and coiled cord through the shaft, so now I just disconnect the connector and shaft at the unit head and in goes the coil and shaft for the other coil. I don't know about anyone else but this was a problem solving issue for me. Now I can hit an area with the stock coil, walk back to my vehicle for a quicker coil switch to the X-5 to work the trashies if necessary. I once worked along a creek where the trees along the edge had the roots in and above ground. The smaller coil allowed me to work in some of the roots. Found a few trails that crossed the creek where people will hop the rocks and/or just across the water. Found more hits in these areas that paid off. Check the crossings in the water if possible and along the trails. A good bit of goodies had collected in the tree roots for years. I couldn't get all the signals because some of the roots were too narly and I did not want to cut any roots. Anyway I did good, thanks to the X-5 coil..... Good Luck

I just got an Excelerator 5" coil and went out once two days ago. It is cold up here in WI and I froze for 40 minutes. I went over an area that I hit hart with an 8" coil and found a 1919D wheaty in there. It was pretty muddy, so I did not hunt long, but I feel that I will find targets that I missed previously with other coils in trashy areas.

Greetings aval,
I have the 5" excelerator coil and use it in trashy areas with great success. The 10 1/2" will not preform well in heavy trash, to many signals mask those good signals that are really close to trash. The 5" excelerator will pick those signals out.:detecting: Happy Hunting Grounds,

The wife ordered me the 4.5x7 for Christmas and was told they are on Backorder from Germany, and were expected in the 2nd week in January. A little disheartening since the weather has been so good here lately. Will probably turn cold the day it arrives.....

I have both the 5 inch and the 4x7 and I like the 4x7 best. Really good around tree roots, brush and close places - I haven't used the 5 since I got the 4 x 7 so I'll probably sell it.
