It has been way tooo long since I have posted any good finds on the forum.. I have missed everyone on here!!
Last year I was just so busy with work and life in general I couldn't make it out much for some serious detecting time. I made a promise to myself and 2012 is going to be my year!!
After work I headed to downtown where I just got permission to hunt two 1800's houses that sit right besides each other. The first thing I noticed was how much iron there was in the ground. It was horrible, with a normal size coil on I couldn't even even get a threshold tone out of my SE. It was in a constant null I thought this was a perfect opportunity try my 6inch EXcelerator coil I bought from Kellyco last year and never used. It made things a little easier... But not alot. Right off the bat I started digging countless pieces of junk copper. But the wheat pennies didn't come to long after. So far I am very Impressed with this little coil. You wouldn't believe the amount of holes I opened where I had to pull the nails out before I could even find the coin. I am also very pleased with the depths its reaching. I was hitting 6 to 7 inch wheats with no problem. The deepest thing I found was a little medallion, looks like it was wore on a bracelet or necklace. She was down about 8 inches and hit good. I'm not sure what type metal its made of but the ground was really hard on it. On one side you can make out " In the Memory Of" and on the opposite side about the only thing you can really see is a date of 1884. I finally hit a quiet side of the yard so I swapped out the 6 inch coil for my sunray X-8. I have had some amazing success with this coil in the past. It didn't take long till I got a signal that read in the Indian range. I dug down and was really surprised to pop out a Eagle Button. I have dug four or five of these in the past, but never one in this condition. So at this point I'm getting really pumped up. I kept working that side of the yard and a came across another high tone signal from decent depth. I dug down and popped out a little shield thingy.... I had no clue what I was looking at, I started rubbing the dirt off and could make out "Good For 5". At this time I realized I had dug my first Good For 5 Cents At A Bar token I am super pumped about this guys, been looking for one of these for a while!!
Well I really appreciate everyone looking and reading. If you cant tell by the story.. I'm still excited and ready to go back out and hit it again.. Hopefully ending with silver next time
Happy Hunting Guys!!!
