5.75 Concentric or Wide scan?

VaRelics

New member
I am thinking aout getting a 5.75 coil for my Tejon, which is better the concentric or wide scan?

Thanks,

VaRelics

I've got the 5.75 DD for the Tejon and I'm using it most of the time as opposed to the stock 8X9.

I'm fairly new to both the coil and the machine, but the 5 cuts through the trash much better than the stock as you would expect. And pinpointing is spot on as you would expect.

What I didn't expect was that the little coil seems to be real close to the stock coil depth-wise.

Most of the comments I've read about Tesoro's small concentric are very good, too.

It would probably come to which style of coil suits you better, or which one you could get a better deal on.

It is equal to the concentric in mild ground but outshines it in mineralized soil an I know there are some tough conditions in VA. The depth of both is nearly equal to the stock coil and a lot of guys put the 575 on their machines and never take them off.

Bought a 5.75 con for my Vaquero, don't use it as much as I thought I would but it hunts well. Like the stock coil it pinpoints great. Depth seems as good as the stock 8x9, some small variation on different targets but not much..

I tried them both. The widescan would separate good when the rejected target and good target were side by side. But If they were in a straight line with one another and the hot center strip hit them both at the same time I got masking. This can be an issue with all DD coils. You need to check the signals at 90 degrees to avoid missing something. Just my experience. It's sorta like having a concentric and both a good and bad targets are in the center hot spot at the same time. Only the hot spot is larger

I'm sure there are people that will dissagree and this is only my opinion. The widescan is a good coil but I prefer the concentric in my ground. I'm sure in super hot ground the widescan would be easier to run.

That would be me and everyone I know.. who uses a Tejon. There is no reason to ever put the stock coil back on unless you just like an unbalanced detector.

The 5.75" Widescan is a better choice than the 5.75" Concentric because it separates trash from good targets better, about the same depth as someone else said, and handles mineralized soil much better.

Like you I prefer the 5.75, but the stock coil doesn't seem particularly unbalanced that I've noticed. Can you elaborate?

Hummmmmmmmmm! Still looking for a 5.75 widescan for my Lobo. Using a concentric on the detector I use for coin shooting (tried a widescan didn't like it (personal preferance )). Yea I know, just TOO cheap to buy a new one....:drinking:

I have both but if you can only buy one I would get the wide scan, you will get more use out of it,you can use it for prospecting and at the beach and still coinshoot.Yesterday I used my vaquero at the beach in the wet salt sand with the wide scan coil and I got a quarter around 14-16 inches deep,I could not belive it!

with the 5.75 widescan you got a quarter that deep?
