5.75 Coil <> Hot OR Not !!!

New member
I to have just purchased a 5.75 concentric for the Tejon ....It was the overwhelming opion's of user's that responed to Beale's post as to what was preffered in the 5.75 ....Widescan OR Concentric with the concentic being preffered hands down over the widescan ..due to superior pinpionting and trash seperation , plus I enjoy the 575 Con on the Compadre

I read on a lot of post users referring to the 575 Concentric as being 575 H.O.T coil ?
As far as I can tell Tesoro's High Output Technology coil only applys to the WIDESCAN coils

5.75" Widescan
3 x 18" Widescan Cleansweep

Another thing thats on my mind is the Tesoro Decals on the coils , I have notice that in the UK the 5.75 WS & Con both have the decals with the Tesoro logo and sweetspot on them ......but US advertised coils most that Ive been able to find only have the decals on the minority of WS coils with the concentric and majority of widescan coils being plain Black ...are the black coils just older stock ?? whats the story here ???? is it only the 575 Widescan that is based on H.O.T and do the decals play any part in identifying coils based on Tesoro's High Output Technology ??

Also some dealers state that the 5.75 widescan HOT coil is deeper than the Concentric in all ground ...this contradics most of what Ive read on finds concerning the Widescan v's the Concentric unless these views or comparisons are being made between a standard widescan angainst the concentric and not the new and improved H.O.T widescan coil ???

Hey Trueblue I went and checked my 5.75 coil. Mine has the decals and the dot for the sweet spot. I would hazard to guess that the ones without them are old stock?

As to the Widescan being deeper? I am not sure, I just know that a most of the reviews I have read liked the Concentric? In the end I think both are good coils.

Heck after reading your post I went down to my shop and put my concentric on my Vaquero. Man is that bad boy light now. I can not wait to try it out, Beale.

H.O.T. coils are ALL of the coils (both concentric and widescan) made to fit the T, V, C machines. They will also work on the Lobo ST. The ad you picture, is the back page of the current Tesoro catalog, and at the time of its release, those were the "newest" of the H.O.T. coils. "More Heat" meaning they added these coils to the existing line up. Tesoro also has a 575 cpncentric coil that fits the uMax line of machines, but it can not be used on the T, V, or C machines

I think the early coils didnt have decals because at the time it was the "only" 575 coil. But once they started making widescan and the uMax 575 they needed to differenciate so then they began adding labels.

In all the testing I have done here in Wisconsin (mild mineralization) the widescan coils give me NO greater deapth than the concentrics. By definition, widescan coils are meant to see through mineralization and technically, will only give you greater depth if you have mineralized soil conditions. Plus, again by definition, a widescan coil "sees" more targets due to the width of the magnetic field, whereas a concentric coil, at its deepest point of detectability, is only seeing a very small area of "targets" and in my mind, that gives an advantage that you dont get with widescan coil.

It's my understanding that in mild soil, concentrics are consistently deeper than the same size in a widescan. The widescan only gains depth over the concentric in more heavily mineralized soil. My two bits.

I hope you "set the world on fire" with that 5.75. Anxious to read a field test on it..........Rick

yeah Im glad that I went with the concentric to Beale it does get great reviews , looking forward to your finds with the badboy ! ... thanks for the info Scully & BB  thats sorted then:tesoro:

good point, is that why i have no difference in depth from a manual ground balance machine to a pre set ground balance? i believe my soil here in ohio is mild. my dad lives near the outer banks of north carolina and my pre set machines do great there.
