5.75" coil for Vaquero

I was looking at getting the 5.75" coil for my Vaquero for trashy areas. When I saw the price for the coil, I thought, wow the Compadre is only $151 and it has a 5.75" coil (I know it's not the same coil for the Vaquero). For a few more bucks I was just thinking about getting the Compadre for the trashy areas. Any thoughts on this? Anyone ever had the same idea?

I think that getting the Compadre instead of getting the 5.75 for your Vaquero is a good move. If for some reason you had a problem with your Vaq. and had to send it in for repair you would have another detector to use. You would have a detector for your wife/son or daughter/friend, etc. to use to go hunting with you. I hear the Compadre is a great little machine. Steve.

But come to think of it a 5.75 on the Vaq. wouldn't be so bad either, decisions decisions...

lovepulltabs; this is my dimesworth on the subject of coil VS. Compadre detector. I'm not an expert on this subject and I'm not an electronics engineer. I have a B.S. degree but it don't encompass Bachelor of Science. From a common sense stand point, why not have another detector and save the energy of changing coils. If the Vaq. should happen to break down, you would have a detector to use while it's being repaired. The other way, one would have a coil to look at until you recieved the Vaquero from Tesoro. And it would be handy to have two machines with you - you might run into unexpected trashy ground. I plan on getting a Compadre myself. Dimesworth

The phone rang while I was posting and I had to leave for a few minutes. When I came back to finish, Skywhiz had already posted with the same idea. Thought it was my post until I read it closer. Dimesworth

I'll vote along with the redundancy in equipment, also.
