5.75" 5 Pin Coil

Do the older 5.75" 5 pin coils have what looks like a bead of caulk around the edge of the coil or is it smooth? I just bought one and it also had a coil cover on it. When I measure the top of the coil to where the caulk starts, it's 5.75". With caulk and coil cover it measures 6". Then there was another coil cover over that and measures 6.125".

What I am trying to ask is, do I have 2 coil covers on the coil? I can't really tell because if there already is a coil cover on the coil I can't remove it because of the caulk. The other one i was able to remove and it measures 6.125" outside and 6.825" inside. Thanks

A picture is worth a thousands words. I'm willing to bet that you only have one coil cover. The caulking is to hold the two haves of the coil together and to keep the water out.

Yep, just one coil cover.

The reason that its a 5.75, is because where the wire is in the coil is the actual demensions.
