Good evening all, let me start off by saying that you all have been making some great finds and posts lately. Been really hectic lately in my life.
Thursday I had to have a minor surgery performed, it went smoothly and I was able to take the whole day off of work. After sitting at home recovering all day, I couldn't stand it anymore and decided to hit the ballfield down the road "AGAIN". I decided to start gridding once again. Ended up with 1 wheatie, 1953 and 1957 silver Roosies.
Saturday after sitting home for most of the day wishing it wasn't pouring rain, I couldn't stand it any longer and decided to hunt in the pouring rain. Switched from the regular headphones to the blue ones and hit the ballfied "AGAIN" for about 2 hours. It was so muddy, I was covered all over my clothes. The people that were at the park must've thought I was a crazy walking around in the pouring rain. I had a blast though, no wheaties but did manage to scrape up a 1939 mercury dime for my troubles. I laughed because I was getting ready to leave and thought I was going to get skunked. The ATP never ceases to amaze me.
Sunday I ended up going back to the ballfield "AGAIN" for a nice 3 hour hunt. The sun was shining and I just had a good feeling I was going to have a good day. Right off the bat I nabbed a junk ring. Hey, a ring is a ring so I was happy just the same to have it. Next good signal turned out to be the worn 1944 Mercury dime. Cool! I love finding Mercury dimes, they are one of my favorite coins. Always happy to see one in the hole Next I found the junk bracelet. That baby was every bit of 6" deep. Came up a solid silver tone, but alas, silver plated over copper. Oh well, no biggie. I then got another signal about 10 feet from where I found the bracelet. Came up as a mid tone in the low 60's so I figured it was just another pulltab. Dug a 5" plug and couldn't find it in the hole. Broke apart the plug and seen the thinnest silver ring I ever found. Unfortunately I tried it on and couldn't get it off and ended up snapping it in the process of trying to remove it, doh!! At this point, I was very happy with the finds and decided to walk a straight line to my car to call it a day. About 1/4 of the way towards the car I got a very nice soft silver signal. Depth said 8", but it was more like 7" if I had to guess. Ended up with the 1941 Mercury to end a great day of hunting. I can't believe I found only 1 wheatie out of those 3 trips, but hey I aint complaining! I'll take silver over wheaties any day of the week
