5.3 or the 4 X 6 coil?

Ok,

Just sold the E-trac and am ready to take the plunge. Other than the stock coil, I am looking to buy either the 5.3 or the 4 X 6.

Being that I am not familiar with Whites detectors and their products, which of the 2 would be the hot ticket for the trashy areas. I know that both are small and will weave between the trash, but anyone care to give some input here?

Thanks in advance.

I like the 4x6 coil simply because it was my first small coil and the learning curve for me was wonderful and still is.
The 5.3 coil is great too but for me I had much rather use the 4x6.
I looked at it this way, alot of trash can be put or found under a 5" circle as opposed to 4". That's just my opinion.
If I were you I would also look or at least latter on get the 950 coil to make hunting a little more quiet.

4x6 coil rocks on trashy areas. I mean really trashy, like 10 targets per square foot. It will detect down to 7" on a regular basis. I have pulled more clad with the 4x6 in one week than I pulled with all my other coils and the v3i. They where clad but I had to pick them between the nails and can slaw.

The 5.3 which I just started using again will pickup 10" but not reliably.7.5" deep all day long, it is also very light and is hardly noticeable. It is a nice coil for its uses and has decent above average separation.

I would buy the 4x6 first and then the 5.3.

It comes down to trash, area and time. I am looking for more depth and the new 12x15 is not yet delivered to Kelly Co. It is v-nulled. I want big expensive finds at depth, this detector needs to pay for itself within my 6 month timeline.

I've got the 5.3 coil myself, and I love it. i really debated over the various coils and I can say that it's been a GREAT coil. Depth wise i've picked some silver at 7 - 8 inches. I think with a little tuning deeper is possible. What I love about it is the pinpointing, and it has very good target separation. I don't think you can go wrong with it, it's light and very effective. I've found that you really just need to slow down and let the coil do it's magic.
