5.3 coil I think I have a problem

Got a new 5.3 for my V3 and can not turn the gain above 8 with out it overloading any thoughts from some one using one would be appreciated.
Can you go above 8 on gain. I can not turn TX boost on at all. Info please I may need to send this one back.

Spoke with White's a week or so ago and they had some coils available, think the 950 and 12" of course the 10"DD but were still working on the smaller ones and was told they would be ready soon. They have to be nulled to higher specs to use the boost. I tried a friends 12" non V coil he had for his MXT and couldn't get over 4 gain without overload so I am going to get the V3 coils. It is possible to get lucky and have one of the stock coils work but it would be totally random. I also am under the impression that in the future all the coils will be made to the higher specs. If so then less confusion and should be better performance on the MXT and DFX as well. Closer the null to perfect the more stable and more you can push the coil from my experience.

Thanks for the info this one I was told was vision compatible. But I do not think it is or
there is something bad wrong with it.

A friend who has tried the 5.3 on his says that he is unable to use the Tx boost. He don't use the TX boost because of trashy areas, but when he gets into cleaner conditions, the TX boost didn't work.
I think he also said that he could not use the single 22.5 kHz frequency either very well.
I don't recall anything about the gain - if he said anything.

I'm waiting it out for Whites to come out with additional coils - mainly a smaller coil as I hunt mostly trash areas. Then when I hit the cleaner areas, I would like to enable the TX boost feature.

LOOK at the coil mount tabs ! ! ! LOOK and see if it has a "V" ! ! !

No "V" = older coil for DFX - MXT - M6

Yes "V" = New coil type for V3 - DFX - MXT - M6

Any problems - Call White's ;-)

The stock V3 10" DD coil has the "V" on the mount tab/ear!

My V3 stock coil was purchased Mar. 19 2009

All though my DFX coils will work, I should really replace them with the new V-coils for maximum depth and usage of all the V's tweaks?
