5.3 Black Max won't ground balance...

I got a 5.3 Black Max coil as an extra when I bought my XLT. But, it will not ground balance? It seems to work OK, except for not GBing.
I'm wondering if anyone might have an idea about this problem.
I'm going to check with Whites about a possible repair, but was hoping one of you ACES might know something about this problem. The coil does have a rattle to it, as if something inside has come loose. I don't know if this is normal or not. Thought about taking it apart and looking inside. I saw where one guy on this forum repaired his by taking it apart and shimming the foam and resealing it. I hate to ruin it, and I'm quite good at ruining things I don't understand. Any ideas would be appreciated!

If you don't have a coil cover on your coil, then I would send the coil in to White's for repair
If you have a coil cover on your coil, then this would be the fix. .

Could be sand or dirt under the coil cover. Remove coil cover, clean dirt and sand from inside coil cover and bottom of coil. Dry. reinstall coil cover and seal it with silicone. let silicone setup for 24 hours.

No cover, I'm thinking I'll just give whites a call on it. Thanks for the input.

I know stock 9.5 coils go out of tune and not ground balancing is a sure way to tell. Imagine others are the same and don't think they can be repaired just replaced. Your situation may be different so talk to the techs at Whites but would bet the coil is out of tune and needs to be replaced...
