Well it was a crazy day today! I only had just over an hour to detect today, but I thought why not go and see if I could find some gold, I've had none in the last week, and times are hard!
I found

Well that's something, I might find a sharks tooth or two, those I recognize.....but, that would be a rock to me!

Well how paleolithic is that!:surprised: Good job! That sure sounds like everything got blown out of there, and those once in a lifetime finds are exposed!:clapping:

Finding stone tools and arrow heads has added to my enjoyment of water/beach hunting.

The ax head was in my sifter one fine day and luckily I saw what it was before I dumped out the contents as usual.

The arrow heads were eye finds from dry sand while hunting above the high tide line.

I have no clue as to age,

CJ

I am sure it is mate, I have emailed the archeologist and will wait to hear from him on Monday. He will know, but you can tell straight away, its been shaped by hand, and used lots. He explained about the areas of clay that are exposed. The areas with millions of shells all smashed up is the old dump of the settlements. Next to this area you find black charcoal, he said that was from their fire pits. I found the hand axe stuck in the clay with loads of shells scattered for metres around. It was mid tide area. I've noticed these areas of shells, and I know where there are more areas, and right now there's a massive storm due to peak tomorrow.... It could expose even more! The guy had a map of exactly where the known settlements were. I will try and get a copy of that........

Nice finds CJ, you have really got your eye in! I am going to pay more attention now. It would be cool to know how old our finds are....

WW you have a sharp eye buddy, I would walked right past that one>>>>:clapping:

Thanks OBN, I will have to get it verified, but when you hold it and look close you can feel and see where it's been worked. The clay area where I found it has been covered by sand today, could be the beginning of the end perhaps the sand will come back now :(
